Karen has been active in the sustainability market since 2000 and has worked on a number of International Cities projects; including in Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, London and Cambridge.
After graduating with an Economics degree Karen’s initial career was in insurance and commercial risk. She then joined the UK Met Office to drive forward their international advisory services in climate change and severe weather risk.
As part of her role she looked at the impacts of weather on the energy market from the operational supply/demand side to the infrastructure investment side in renewables.
A natural progression was her move to AEA Technologies, a leading consultancy in climate change and energy matters. Karen’s main focus was advising clients on energy conservation measures and ESCO type structures.
In 2011 she made the transition to lead the energy and resource efficiency and global sustainability. The main focus is advising clients on their energy strategy including emerging technologies, the prioritisation of projects and how to finance them.
She has worked on engagements with clients such as EU, DECC, EA, Boots, NMUH, Sussex University, Pilkington Glass, Airbus, NATS.
She has authored a number of thought leadership pieces for the Healthcare, Real Estate, Consumer Goods, Infrastructure sectors.
She has delivered Plenary Sessions at a number of global conferences.
She has delivered international projects in South Africa, New Zealand and Ireland
